IMPROVE . GROW . TRANSFORM

ERASMUS + WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAMME

Erasmus+ is a European Union programme, managed in the UK by the UK National Agency. The UK National Agency is a partnership between the British Council and Ecorys UK.

Aims and Objectives of Erasmus+

  • Development of individual and personal skills - dealing with social situations, confidence building, learning abilities
  • Recognition and familiarisation with some cultural organisations outside of the UK
  • Practice and development of skills outside of the UK
  • Insights into the expanded opportunities so that participants can develop and manage their career plans

Gecko Programmes offer a combination of vocational training in the UK that is followed by a funded work placement and further learning with one of our European partners.

To qualify for an Erasmus+ mobility you must currently be attending or attended one of our consortium college partners in the last 12 months. Our consortium college partners are:
  • City of Wolverhampton College
  • South & City College Birmingham
  • Walsall College
  • Dudley College
  • Birmingham Metropolitan College

If you don't or haven't attended one of our consortium college partners you can still easily qualify for a Erasmus+ Mobility by completing our Level 2 short course in “Business Skills".

  • Entry requirements for the Gecko short course:
Learners do not need any specific prior knowledge, qualifications, skills or experience before starting the programme, but experience of working in a team would be helpful.

  • Course Fee for the Gecko short course :
In most instances, the course fee is ZERO, as Gecko holds many contracts to provide this course free of charge. Gecko’s Skills Advisers can provide more details.

  • To reserve your place, or enquire about funding:
Call 01902 452 004 and ask for the mobilities team or email mobilities@geckoprogrammes.co.uk

Gecko Programmes, in Birmingham and Wolverhampton, delivers training to people who are or aim to be employed in the creative, cultural and services sectors.

The project is funded by the Key Action 1 of the Erasmus+ Programme and aims to send abroad learners who are studying or have completed studying a curriculum relevant to the above-mentioned sectors. Gecko arranges mobilities of the duration of 15, 22, 40 or 60 days in Italy, Spain and Germany.
Funded by the EU’s Erasmus+ Programme, the selected participants for this project will be supported with:
  • cost of travel to and from UK airport
  • flight
  • accommodation with utilities
  • subsistence money
  • work placement
  • certification

You are eligible for the work experience programme if you are studying towards a vocational qualification with Gecko Programmes or one of our partner colleges, or if you have completed a qualification with either Gecko or one of our partner colleges in the last 12 months.
You must also be aged above 17, be living in the West Midlands, UK, and hold a British/EU passport or National Identity Card.

We encourage all participants to add this work experience abroad to their CVs, and tell others the story of their participation, and their adventures; giving sparkle to a job interview – and progressing into employment.
