Your employer may pay for this

Many care employers fund the Level 5 for their deputies and acting managers — it's often part of a CQC or Ofsted improvement plan. We invoice employers directly and your adviser can help you make the case to yours.

Questions people ask before enrolling

Do I need a Level 3 before I can do the Level 5?

Not if you have solid experience — senior carers, deputies and managers go straight to Level 5. Earlier in your care career? Level 3 is the right start, and that's exactly what this quiz checks. Your adviser will sanity-check the fit on your callback before you pay anything.

Is this accepted by CQC and Ofsted?

Yes — these are the recognised NCFE Level 5 diplomas for registered-manager roles. CQC expects registered managers of adult services to hold or be working towards the Level 5 in Leadership & Management for Adult Care. For children's homes in England, Ofsted requires the Level 5 in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare under the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015.

How is it assessed? Are there exams?

No exams. The diploma is assessed by portfolio — written assignments and evidence drawn from your day-to-day work, reviewed by your assessor. If you're already senior, deputising or managing, much of your normal working week becomes evidence.

Can I do it while working full-time?

Yes — that's how it's designed. It's fully online, there's no fixed timetable, and your workplace practice is the core of the assessment. Most learners complete in 18–24 months around full-time care work.

What does 'fully online' actually mean?

Everything is delivered through an online learning portal — study materials, assignments and tutor support, on any device. Your personal tutor is a real person you can contact directly, and they guide you unit by unit through the portfolio.

What if I'm not in a leadership role yet?

You can still enrol — care workers with solid hands-on experience start the Level 5 with us regularly. Your tutor helps you plan evidence opportunities, and many learners move into senior or deputy roles during the course, which then feeds the portfolio.

Can my employer pay for this?

Often, yes. Many care employers fund the Level 5 for their deputies and acting managers — it's frequently part of a CQC or Ofsted improvement plan. We can invoice your employer directly. Mention it on your adviser callback and we'll help you make the case.

Can I change my mind after enrolling?

You have a 14-day cooling-off period — full refund, no questions asked. After that, talk to your adviser and we'll find a solution. Study deadlines can also be extended if life gets in the way.
